I am lively, centered and me.

I am not entirely sure which aspects of my story came through the most because my portrait isn't really a typical story. It really is just a jumble of things that make me, me, coming together as one. My artistic choices that came through the most is where I placed things. I have me centered to show that the portrait is about me, and then if you still couldn't tell, I put the lower and middle halves of my body in tinfoil so they shine. Then I have something else in each corner of the paper. The right hand corner on the top is a heart in hand. This corner was my favorite to do because it showed that I put a lot of heart into everything I do. The bottom right hand corner is the earth and since I am depicted sort of floating above it, that represents that my head is sometimes in the clouds. Before I even started pasting things on to my paper, I gave the placement of my items a good thought so that whatever my story was, could come through in whatever way the person looking at it made of it.

  1. I loved how you made a hole where your heart was because it made everyone look there first. I love also how you had a picture in each corner showing the sense of balance.

  2. It is easy to see all of the thought and creativity that went in to your work. The image of you floating on the paper is a very interesting way to represent you. Also the aluminum paper put emphasis on your body.

  3. Mia, i loved your art work! I really liked the heart and how instead of being in the traditional place in your chest it was off to the side and had a hang holding it. Not only was that very cool but it was all very nicely drawn. I also liked how there was a hole cut out of the person where the heart should have been, it just drew more attention to it and almost made you search for where the heart was. There was also a very nice sense of balance in you piece because you had something in every corner and then one big piece in the center. The words were also a very nice touch because they gave you a bit more of an idea of who you are and they kind of looked like they were being squeezed out of the heart that you drew. Having only the background be white also really made all of the things you drew and put on it pop.

  4. I loved how you put separate words to the side, because it was a much different design to your other work on the paper and it reminded me of a collage!

I looved all the different textures in your portrait. It was very cool with the tin foil and the fabric. Also, I like that the little gray streaks in the corner are random because you are sort of random. The heart was also very weel drawn.

  7. Mia, I think your design was very unique and collage oriented. I like how much you represented being vegitarian (your whole head being a vegitable). Also the blankness on the background emphasized what was on the paper alot, especially the frame of things on the outside. I also ilike the tinfoil you used to atract the eye to your person and the hole in the chest so they could look for where your heart was. The heart in the hand in the corner was very nicely drawn.

  8. I especially liked how well your drawing came together. How the hole drew the attention and then instead of not having it at all you put it on the side being grabbed. I also thought the all the different drawings you used, as well as the fabric you used.

  9. I enjoy how you left the back round white because it really made the peron and little details stand out more. It also gave the different corners a sense of balance. I also enjoyed how you made the heart look like it was bleeding words that discribe you. I really enjoyed looked at your work.

  10. I really liked the heart that was torn from your chest and the hole that was left. The four pictures in each corner of the paper gave it balance and a boundary. The vegetable head was very creative and it really caught the eye drawing the eye to focus on you and then move to the other parts of the picture. The emotions and characteristic of you flowing from your heart was very cool it made me think everything you do comes from the heart. The symbolism of you floating above the earth was really interesting and also created a sense of you being in your own world. The silver foil also drew the eye to the center and focused on you. I liked how there were lots of levels and textures in it because it made it stand out more than something that was just drawn on. Good job.

  12. Mia I thought your piece was so original. The way you put things in each corner gave your bubbly piece a nice outline. I like the way each thing seemed to come as a whim but had a significance to you in some way. The mixed media made it very visually pleasing and exciting

  13. I really enjoyed looking at your portrait. My favorite part was the veggie head that you used to represent you being a vegetarian. I also liked the concept of you putting your heart into everything you do and by taking it out of the body and putting it in a secluded place you forced the audience to look for the heart which made your concept very powerful. The spacing and balance in your portrait also makes helps us focus on the art rather than what's behind you.

  14. I really loved how you brought this piece of art to a whole new level. Not just having the heart on the side you also included that it was out of the body. It was really cool how you were able to incorparate so many different textures. Also leaving the white background really helped the words and the other small pieces pop out and made them much more important to the piece of work. This piece of work really shows who you are, but you have to really look at it to understand it and figure out what it's about. That's what really makes it great in my mind. I also like how you used so many different images just from the internet and magazines that really helped it pop out of the white background.

  15. Mia, if I saw your art for the first time anywhere in this school, I would have guessed it was yours. There is so many things that made your non-traditional portrait so.. you. I particularly like the taken out heart part, like you said, you put your heart in every task you commit yourself to; and to me the hand in your art seems like throwing your heart at every deed you face. The missing heart hole right in the center of your body acts like a leading line that points at your heart in your hand..
